Half Of All US Hotel Projects To Be Green Buildings By 2015

CleanTechnica has confirmed the incredible growth in ‘green’ buildings. The percentage of hotel owners reporting more than half their facilities as green rose from 28% in 2011 to 48% in 2013, expected to reach 62% by 2015.

A McGraw Hill construction survey has also provided some answers to the big question: are green hotels more valuable? 71% of hotel owners reported an increase in asset value! 85% reported an increase in building ROI and 67% a decrease in energy use!

Many of you don’t have the luxury of operating in a new building though. So, what can you do? The first step is to measure what you want to manage (it’s a cliche but it’s true): calculate  your carbon emissions, monitor your energy usage, identify opportunities for improvements, and engage with stakeholders (owners, staff, guests).
