Corporate responsibility employee engagement for hotels

Are your hotel employees disengaged? Can ‘hotel green activities’ or sustainability improve their engagements and your bottom line? Earlier this year, PwC released a report on engaging employees through corporate responsibility. It found that disengaged employees drag down companies, costing billions of dollars in lost productivity and resulting in much higher turnover rates.

The report found that 10% to 15% of the global workforce can be categorized as ‘disconnected’. Previous studies have also shown that engaged employees result in higher financial returns. Employees most committed put in 57% more effort on the job and are 87% less likely to resign.

To feel engaged, employees want to understand the impact they are making and the success of which they are taking part. Bringing your hotel’s business strategy in line with your employees’ passion is a win-win.

Green activities and sustainability can help engage your employees. For example, being appointed the hotel or department’s environmental champions helps motivate and engage employees who care about the environment. Also, working for a hotel that is responsibly managing its environmental impacts can motivate staff.
